New Parents Information and Orientation

This section of our team's web site is dedicated to the new parent.

Program or Team Type - What Team or Program fits your child

We offer several different pre-competitive and competitive program to fit your child's needs

    1. Developmental Swim Teams - We offer a developmental swimming program for all ages.

Take Your Mark Age Group Swim Swim Team - For the swimmer who is just coming out of swim lessons ages 13 & Under and may not be ready to join our Competitive Swim Team. There are 4 sessions for this program a year, October - December, January - March, April - June and June & July. Please see our Take Your Mark Team requirements.

    2. Competitive Swim Teams - We offer a competitive swimming program at the following times of the year.

Winter Swim Team - October - February,

Spring Swim Team - April - first week of June

Summer Swim Team - June - first week of August. Please see our Competitive Team requirements.

    3. USA Swimming - This program runs 12 months of the year and is an "add on" to our Competitive Programs. It offers extra meets to swimmers who wish to fully dedicate themselves to swimming and attend more meets. There is an additional $55.00 membership fee to join USA Swimming. The meets generally have longer events and are often a 2 day format. Swimmers are not required to attend both days.

    4. Stroke Clinics - During the month of August and September we offer 2 stroke development clinics to help swimmers perfect their swimming technique in the "off" season. These clinics are open to any swimmer who can pass our Pre-Competitive Team requirements. Please see our Pre-Competitive Team requirements.

Practices - What practice group and what time and location should my child attend?

We have 4 locations to attend practices for your child and many practice times as well as groups they may be in.

    1. Look over the Practice Groups which have the ages and performance requirements for each group by (Clicking Here)

    2. After you have identified the group your child will swim with (If you are having trouble please email Coach Mike at mike@pfyswim.org ) Go to our Practice Schedule and find where and when your child's group practices. (PLEASE DO YOUR BEST TO FOLLOW THE PRACTICE SCHEDULE ARE ALL PRACTICE GROUPS HAVE WORK OUTS GEARED TOWARD THE NEEDS OF THAT GROUP)

    3. Find the pool your child will swim in by going to our Pool Location page which has pictures and direction to each pool.

    4. Purchase needed Practice and Meet Equipment. Swimming is just like other sports that we have important equipment that is required for your child's success. For our Practice and Meet Equipment List (Click Here)

    5. Make Sure you review our Summer Team Rules (Click) or Winter Team Rules (Click)

Team Rules - Our Competitive and Developmental Programs have separate rules and guidelines.

Meets - How to Sign Up for Invitational and USA Swimming Meets. There are 2 types of meets that swimmers can attend. The first is our Summer and Winter League Meets. These meets are expected that all swimmers attend and are required for all Winter and Summer Swimmers. The second type is Invitational and USA Swimming Meets. These meets are not required but are strongly encouraged to attend as they are great experience for all swimmers.

To Register for Summer and Winter League Duel Meets - Follow the below steps.

    1. Go to the Team's Meet Schedule page by (Clicking Here)

    2. Find the Meet you wish to "Register" your child for and click on the link below the meet name and information to Register them.

    3. After you click on the link fill out Online Meet Register Form. There are no meet fees for our regular league meets.

    4. After you fill out the Online Meet Register Form follow the directions on the thank page so you can check your registration.

    5. Meet Workers: Summer and Winter Meets require close to 30 meet workers to run the meet so parent volunteers are a very important part of our program. Each Winter and Summer League meet will require that parents sign up to help with such meet jobs as Officials, Timers, Place Judges, Concession Workers, Announcers and many others. These jobs are important not only to the running of the meet but it is also a great way to show support for the team your child has joined. For Meet Worker job descriptions (Click Here).

    6. Championship Meets are required for all members to attend for Winter and Summer. These meets are the end of the regular season and all swimmer are able to attend. Championship meets are scored as well. Championship fees are due for all members even if they are not able to attend about 1/2 way into the season. The Summer Championship meet and generally one of the Winter Championship meets are major fund raisers for our team so all parents are required to volunteer even if their child is not going to swim in the meet.

    7. Make Sure you review our Summer (Click) or Winter Team Rules (Click).

To Sign up for Invitational and USA Swimming Meets - Follow the below steps.

    1. Go to the Team's Meet Schedule page by (Clicking Here)

    4. After you click on the link fill out the Online Meet Entry Form. All away Invitational and USA Meet will have a $4.00 surcharge added to the meet entry fees. Once you have filled out the online form follow the directions for payments and how to check your entries.

    5. Meet Workers: Invitational and USA Swimming require meet workers to run the meet so parent volunteers are a very important part of our program. Every home Invitational meet we need at least 30 parents to run the meet. Home Invitational Meets are fundraiser so all team members are expected to attend and parent to help in some way. Each home Invitational meet will have an online sign up sheet that parents can sign up to help with such meet jobs as Officials, Timers, Place Judges, Concession Workers, Announcers and many others. These jobs are important not only to the running of the meet but it is also a great way to show support for the team your child has joined.

    6. Make Sure you review our Summer (Click) or Winter Team Rules (Click).

Special Events - Through out the year we offer special events such as a trip to Camel Beech, Parents Nights Out, Sleep Over's at the YMCA, Movie Nights, Bring a Friend to Practice Days and many more. These events are a very important part of our program and help to build bonds with team members and relationships that will last a life time. These events are not required but strongly encouraged and will be posted on our Team Program Calendar which is on our web site (Click Here)
